Editorial Standards

How We Earn Your Trust

Every Acquire Publishing publication is governed by the standards on this page. If we fall short, we correct it — publicly and promptly.

Our Promise

Acquire Publishing makes one promise to every reader: we will not waste your time.

Every publication must answer one question before it is published: Will this genuinely help someone make a better decision? If the answer is no, we don't publish it.

If a manuscript is clever but cannot be implemented, we reject it. If a concept sounds good but cannot be verified, we challenge it. If a book entertains but does not equip, we pass. Our editorial board evaluates every publication against one standard: does this make the reader more capable than they were before?

This standard was not written by a committee. It was set by CJ Jones, who founded Acquire Publishing because, after two decades building businesses, acquiring assets, and coaching entrepreneurs, he could not find a single publisher willing to reject books that sounded impressive but contained nothing a reader could act on. He started Acquire Publishing to be that publisher. The standard has not moved since.

We are not in the entertainment business. We are not in the opinion business. We are in the implementation business. Our readers trust us to deliver practical knowledge — not clever ideas, not political commentary, not self-promotion disguised as instruction.

Verification

Before any publication reaches a reader, it passes through a verification process designed to catch error, exaggeration, and unsupported claims.

Our verification standard:

  • Claims must be supported by evidence — primary sources, data, documented experience, or reproducible reasoning.
  • Assertions presented as fact must be verifiable. If they cannot be verified, they must be clearly labeled as opinion.
  • Statistical claims must cite sources. No "studies show" without naming the study.
  • Expert claims must be attributed. No "experts agree" without identifying the experts and their qualifications.

Research Standards

Acquire Publishing conducts and publishes original research on practical problems affecting families, entrepreneurs, professionals, and ownership-minded individuals.

Our research standards:

  • Research methodology is published alongside findings. Readers should be able to evaluate how we reached a conclusion, not just what the conclusion is.
  • Sample sizes, data sources, limitations, and potential conflicts of interest are disclosed prominently.
  • Research is conducted by or reviewed by people with relevant domain expertise.
  • Research conclusions are presented honestly — including when the data is inconclusive or contradicts our expectations.
  • Research is not sponsored by parties with a financial interest in the outcome. Sponsored research, should it ever occur, would be clearly labeled.

Fact Checking

Every Acquire Publishing publication is fact-checked before release. Our fact-checking process includes:

  • Primary source verification: Claims are checked against original sources — not summaries, not secondary reporting, not conventional wisdom.
  • Expert review: Domain experts review publications in their area of expertise before release. They are identified, and any corrections they recommend are evaluated and applied.
  • Reader feedback: Readers who identify factual errors can submit corrections. Each submission is investigated, and confirmed errors are corrected with a visible update note.
  • Version tracking: Corrections are documented publicly. Readers can see what changed, when, and why.

Corrections Policy

Acquire Publishing corrects errors promptly and transparently.

  • Factual errors: Corrected within 72 hours of confirmation. A correction note is appended to the publication indicating what was changed and when.
  • Clarifications: When a passage is technically accurate but could mislead a reasonable reader, we add a clarification — clearly labeled — without altering the original text.
  • Reader-initiated corrections: Readers may submit potential errors to corrections@acquirepub.com. Each submission is investigated. The reader is notified of the outcome.
  • No silent corrections: We do not quietly fix errors and hope nobody noticed. Every correction is documented. Every update is visible.

Affiliate Disclosure

Some Acquire Publishing recommendations may include affiliate links. When you purchase through an affiliate link, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.

Our affiliate policy:

  • We never recommend products solely because they pay commissions. Recommendations are based on editorial judgment — value, reputation, support, suitability, and transparency.
  • Affiliate relationships are disclosed at the point of recommendation — not buried in a site-wide footer.
  • We do not accept payment for product reviews. Reviews reflect editorial judgment, not commercial arrangements.
  • Our Product Review Standard governs how products are evaluated before recommendation.

Opinion vs. Fact

Acquire Publishing clearly distinguishes between what we know, what we believe, and what we are reporting.

  • Fact: Verifiable statements supported by evidence. Factual claims are sourced.
  • Analysis: Interpretation of facts by a qualified practitioner or researcher. Analysis is labeled as analysis.
  • Opinion: The author's personal perspective, judgment, or recommendation. Opinion pieces are clearly labeled. Authors are identified with relevant credentials.
  • Reporting: Accounts of events, interviews, or observations. Reporting distinguishes between what the reporter witnessed and what others reported.

No publication mixes these categories without clear labeling. You should never wonder whether you are reading fact, analysis, opinion, or reporting.

AI Usage Policy

Acquire Publishing uses artificial intelligence as a tool — not as an author.

  • AI may be used for: research assistance, drafting summaries, organizing outlines, checking consistency, identifying gaps, and formatting.
  • AI is never used as: the sole author of any publication, the final authority on any factual claim, or a replacement for human editorial judgment.
  • Human review: Every publication is reviewed by at least one human editor before release. AI-generated content that passes through human review is still human-reviewed content — the human is accountable for every word.
  • Disclosure: If AI contributed materially to a publication beyond research assistance and formatting, that contribution is disclosed.

Our policy is simple: AI can help us work faster. It cannot replace editorial judgment, factual verification, or the practitioner's experience that gives our publications their value.

Human Review

Every Acquire Publishing publication passes through human editorial review before reaching a reader.

  • Editorial review: At least one human editor reviews every publication for clarity, accuracy, completeness, and alignment with our editorial standards.
  • Domain review: Publications addressing specialized topics are reviewed by someone with relevant domain expertise — either an internal reviewer or an identified external expert.
  • Reader review: We treat reader feedback as a form of ongoing peer review. Readers who identify errors, gaps, or unclear passages help us improve.

Publishing Ethics

Acquire Publishing operates under a simple ethical framework:

  • Do not deceive. No fake scarcity. No fake urgency. No fabricated testimonials. No invented credentials. No misleading claims. No fake authority.
  • Do not exploit. We do not publish material designed to exploit fear, uncertainty, or desperation — even if that material would sell well.
  • Do not hide conflicts. Financial interests, affiliations, and potential conflicts are disclosed. Readers deserve to know who is speaking and what they stand to gain.
  • Correct mistakes promptly. When we get something wrong, we say so — clearly, publicly, and quickly.

Conflict of Interest

Acquire Publishing authors, editors, and reviewers are required to disclose relationships, financial interests, and affiliations that could reasonably be seen to influence their work.

  • Authors must disclose financial interests in products, services, or companies discussed in their publications.
  • Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves from publications where they have a personal or financial stake in the outcome.
  • Acquire Publishing itself discloses its relationship to Acquire, Inc. and its affiliated companies — including Built To Own and any other divisions — wherever relevant.

Report an Error or Concern

If you believe an Acquire Publishing publication contains a factual error, an unsupported claim, or a violation of these editorial standards, contact us at corrections@acquirepub.com. Every submission is investigated. Every confirmed error is corrected with a visible update note.
